A number of graduate students associated with the FRG participated in the Greening XII, the annual meeting of Southern California's Environmental Researchers. The Greening XII was held at the University of California, Santa Barbra on January 25th, 2003.

The FRG hosted a discussion of Bjorn Lomborg's The Skeptical Environmentalist, Tuesday, December 3rd, from 4:00- 5:00 pm, in the Conference Room on the Third Floor of the MAB Building.

Professor DiMento gave the plenary address in November at an international environmental law conference in Chongju, Korea. Here he is pictured with other invited presenters and university officials. Pictured above from left to right:

FRG member Joseph DiMento made a presentation on "PARTICIPATION, NORM FORMATION, AND COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL LAW," Friday, October 18 2002.

Dr. Richard Matthew participated in a Dialogue on Environmental Resources and Social Conflict, as part of Environment and Security Day sponsored by IUCN's Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy (CEESP), at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development.

FRG member Joseph DiMento has been named Law Book Review Editor for the journal International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law and Economics, a Kluwer publication.

FRG graduate student Bryan McDonald has been awarded a Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship from the The Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) for his project "Horn of Plenty or Pandora's Box: Science and the Politics of Biotech Food."

As part of our ongoing project on Environment and Security, the FRG will co-sponsor a speaker series with GECHS-UCI on Environment and Terrorism to respond to issue raised by the September 11th attacks.

The FRG sponsored a reception for Homero Aridjis, Mexican poet, novelist and activist/ecologist on February 27th, 2002.

Publication by FRG Members considering the "Implementation of the NAFTA Institutions" now available.

International Environmental Law Symposium published in UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy.

The forthcoming volume War's Hidden Legacy assesses the transnational effort to eradicate landmines.

Colloquium on the environmental impacts of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was held at UCI May 25, 2001.

FRG members were active participants in the Greening XI, 2002's meeting of environmental researchers in Southern California.

The new office for the FRG is located in 325 MAAB, the new building across from GSM.
